WHO AM I?

Hi! I'm Mert, also known professionally as "Pizza Mert" and known online as "Pizza".I'm a 22 years old artist and a fine arts student based in Turkey, who recently worked on variant covers for TMNT (2024) #19 (Cover D), Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Coastal Chaos #1 (Cover C) and Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tear in Time #1 (Cover B) for IDW. Other than comic work, I've done collaboration artworks for NetEase. For a while now, I've been sharing my artwork primarily on Twitter (X) and Instagram, I mostly draw comic fanart apart from my professional art career. I usually create wholesome and humorous comic art.In addition to creating and illustrating short comics, I also participate in (and sometimes start) art trends, and share my ideas and headcanons about the media I'm passionate about.A major turning point in my art journey was my short fan-comic "A Letter From: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man", which received significant attention and support online. Although it doesn't quite reflect my current portfolio and I've improved my art, since then I've continued creating comic related art & short comics, and I love what I do!To further develop my art, I recently dropped out of my Molecular Biology and Genetics major when I was about to enter my fourth year, passed the talent exam for the Faculty of Fine Arts, and am continuing my education there as my first year.

⚠︎ I DON'T use image-generating AI or any image-generating AI assistance in my artwork.

I use Clip Studio Paint EX as my primary drawing software.*

*For those curious about drawing software and interested in Clip Studio Paint: Even if you're a professional, the more affordable Pro version will suffice for 90% of your tasks. Personally, the only reason I bought the EX version is that I plan to work on multi-page projects (like comics or manga) in the future, and the EX version makes working across multiple pages easier. Personally, I don't think the price difference is worth it and I don't want to make people interested in drawing wonder, "What will I miss if I don't use the EX version?" ...Probably nothing.

(unofficial) Featured Works

I use Clip Studio Paint EX as my primary drawing software. My unofficial cover art (and similar) pieces usually take around 8–10 hours to complete, from sketch to final rendering.
All of the works included here [(Unofficial) Featured Works section] are unofficial works created with pure passion!
Most of the pieces included here are works I created after August 2025.

⚠︎ I DON'T use image-generating AI or any image-generating AI assistance in my artwork.

My biggest goal right now is to draw an official cover for The Amazing Spider-ManAs for my ultimate dream, if I can one day reach the financial and skill level it requires, I want to bring to life my original semi post apocalyptic universe, currently under the codename Free Bird, as a passion project comic book. It's a deeply character-focused universe that I’ve been building in my mind and through small sketches and stories for several years. I hope to bring it to life either on my own or with a team that I lead and work closely with. This is not from ego, but from a feeling deep in my heart: I truly believe that people will love and connect with the characters and stories of this universe as passionately as I do.On a more personal note, I'd also love to someday see these stories adapted into an animated series or film.

Hi! You can access most of my fan-comics, short comics and cover art pieces here.

*This page hasn't been updated for a while, please check out the "professional works" and "featured art" section for better examples.**I keep this page because it makes the first fan-comic I created (A Letter From: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man) accessible to read.

Featured comic

A Letter From: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

A Letter From: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is the first comic I've ever created. As the title suggests, this comic features Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man as the main character, and revolves around a letter he writes to the reader. I first shared this fan-comic on Twitter back on August 20, 2025, where it was well received and appreciated by many people, including Joe Kelly: an award-winning American comic book writer, artist, and editor. You can easily access and read it from the section below! Also, if you're curious about what people think of this fan-comic, you can check out the original Twitter post where I first shared it, right here.

Disclaimer: Spider-Man and all related characters are trademarks of Marvel Comics and their respective owners.
This fan comic was created by Mert Özkaya (aka Pizza990) as a tribute to the stories and heroes that inspired me.
It is a non-commercial project made with love and passion by an aspiring comic artist.

My Most Popular Ideas & Headcanons

All of them are linked to their original Twitter posts.

My most popular headcanon

I like the idea of Spider-Man's thwipping pose having this kind of meaning and I tried to apply this in one of my fan-comics

If Batman switches to a blue batsuit in The Batman 2, I'd love it to be for a reason like this.

Featured Cover Art

All of the covers included here are unofficial works. I'm aiming to start my journey toward becoming a professional comic book artist by focusing on cover art.
Again, all of the pieces included here are works I created after August 2025.
My cover art pieces usually take around 5–8 hours to complete, from sketch to final rendering.

Here you can find all of my Spider-Man x Chainsaw Man crossover artworks!
As a big fan of both universes and their characters, all of these drawings are unofficial, non-commercial, and purely passion projects. In other words, I made these for the love of the game.
Since many people enjoy these drawings and this crossover in general, I wanted to collect them all in one place!

All characters and original works related to Chainsaw Man are the property of Tatsuki Fujimoto and their respective copyright holders. All characters related to Spider-Man are the property of Marvel Comics and their respective creators.
These artworks are fan-made, unofficial, and created for non-commercial purposes only.

My commissions are currently closed and I can't give a certain date for when they will open. I'm a little bit busy with university and personal projects, sorry! If you're editorial from Marvel, DC, Image or IDW and want to give me a professional commission please contact me from my e-mail!

Which drawing software am I using?

I use Clip Studio Paint EX as my primary drawing software.**For those curious about drawing software and interested in Clip Studio Paint: Even if you're a professional, the more affordable Pro version will suffice for 90% of your tasks.
